Part C — Composition (Marks—30)
9. Write a paragraph on ‘Price Hike’.
Price Hike
Price hike refers to the unusual and steady increase in the prices of daily essential commodities. It has become one of the most serious problems in our country. Day by day, the prices of daily necessities like rice, dal, oil, onion, vegetables, and other regular items are going beyond the purchasing capacity of the common people. There are many causes behind this problem. The most important cause is the short supply of daily commodities against high demand. Besides, the dishonest businessmen and hoarders often create an artificial crisis in the market to make a huge profit. Again, natural disasters like floods, droughts, and cyclones damage the crops which also leads to a price hike. Sometimes, lack of proper communication and transportation systems, extortion by the syndicates, and inflation of money contribute to the rapid increase in prices. The effects of the price hike are terrible. The middle class and the poor people are the worst sufferers. They cannot manage their family expenses and suffer from malnutrition. To solve this problem, the government should take immediate steps. Dishonest hoarders and syndicates must be strictly punished by the law enforcing agencies. Mobile courts should be operated in the markets regularly to monitor the prices. The government should also ensure the continuous supply of daily commodities and increase agricultural production. Public awareness is also necessary to control this problem so that the common people can lead a peaceful life.
10. Write an application to the principal of your madrasah for extra class.
The Principal,
Dhaka Alia Madrasah,
Bakshibazar, Dhaka.
Subject: Application for arranging extra classes on English.
Sir,
With due respect and humble submission, we, the students of Fazil 1st year of your madrasah, would like to draw your kind attention to the fact that our final examination is drawing near. Our syllabus in English is quite vast and unfortunately, our regular English teacher was on medical leave for the last one month. Consequently, we could not complete our syllabus. Now we are facing great difficulty in understanding some grammatical items and translation parts. We strongly feel the need for some extra classes on English to complete the syllabus and take proper preparation for the upcoming examination.
We, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to arrange some extra classes on English after our regular class hours and oblige thereby.
Yours obediently,
Abdur Rahman
On behalf of the students of Fazil 1st year.
11. Write a dialogue between you and your friend on importance of tree plantation.
A dialogue between two friends about the importance of tree plantation:
Myself: Hello Rakib! How are you?
Rakib: I am fine. And you?
Myself: I am also fine. But why do you look so worried?
Rakib: Actually I am thinking about the extreme heat we are facing this year. The temperature is increasing alarmingly.
Myself: Yes, you are right. This is mainly because of global warming and deforestation. We are cutting down trees randomly but not planting new ones.
Rakib: I agree with you. Trees are our best friends. What can we do to solve this problem?
Myself: The only solution is tree plantation. We must plant more and more trees.
Rakib: What are the benefits of tree plantation?
Myself: The benefits are uncountable. Trees give us oxygen and take in carbon dioxide. They prevent soil erosion, control floods, and bring rain. They also provide us with food, fruits, wood, and shade.
Rakib: You are absolutely right. Without trees, our country will turn into a desert soon. Our ecological balance will be destroyed completely.
Myself: Yes. Therefore, we should plant trees in all the vacant places, beside the roads, and around our houses.
Rakib: That’s a great idea! I will plant some saplings around my house this afternoon. I will also tell my other friends to do so.
Myself: Excellent! We should raise public awareness about the importance of tree plantation. It is our duty to protect our environment.
Rakib: Thanks a lot for this informative discussion. I have to go now.
Myself: You are welcome. See you later.
