Part C—Composition
Marks—30
9. Write a paragraph on any one of the following topic : (10)
[বাংলা অনুবাদ: নিচের যেকোনো একটি বিষয়ের ওপর একটি Paragraph লেখ :]
(a) Gender Discrimination
(b) Price Hike
Gender discrimination refers to the unequal treatment of individuals based on their gender, which predominantly affects women and girls in many societies. In a patriarchal society like ours, this discrimination starts from birth and continues throughout a woman’s life. Boys are often preferred over girls due to religious misinterpretations, social dogmas, and economic reasons. Consequently, girls are deprived of proper education, healthcare, and equal opportunities in employment. They are often confined to household chores and are victims of early marriage and dowry systems. However, a nation cannot progress by keeping half of its population in darkness. Women have proven their competence in every field when given the opportunity. To eliminate gender discrimination, mass awareness is essential. Education for women must be ensured, and strict laws against discrimination must be implemented. Only then can we ensure balanced development and a prosperous society.
Answer (Alternative B): Price Hike
Price hike means the unusual increase in the prices of daily necessary commodities. It is a common and severe problem in Bangladesh, causing immense suffering for the common people, especially those in low and middle-income groups. The causes of price hikes are numerous. Shortage of supply, hoarding by dishonest syndicates, inflation, increase in the price of raw materials in the international market, and a flawed transportation system are the main culprits. Sometimes, businessmen create artificial crises to maximize their profits illegally. Due to price hikes, people with fixed incomes struggle to maintain their families and often have to compromise on their basic needs like food, health, and education. To solve this burning issue, the government must take strict measures against hoarders and black marketers. Regular market monitoring, encouraging agricultural production, and improving supply chains can help control the price hike and relieve the common people.

The Principal,
[Name of your Madrasha],
[Address of Madrasha].
Subject: Application for a seat in the Madrasha hostel.
Respected Sir,
With due respect, I would like to inform you that I am a regular student in the Fazil 1st year class of your reputed Madrasha. Recently, my father has been transferred from this city to another district, and my family has shifted there. Now, I have no relatives here to reside with. Besides, it is very difficult and expensive for me to stay in a rented room outside.
My final examination is knocking at the door, and I need a peaceful environment to continue my studies properly. A seat in the Madrasha hostel will solve my accommodation problem and save my academic life.
Therefore, I earnestly request you to kindly allot me a seat in the Madrasha hostel as soon as possible and oblige thereby.
Yours obediently,

Rahim: Hello Karim, how are you?
Karim: I am fine. But the weather is terribly hot today, isn’t it?
Rahim: Yes, absolutely. It’s becoming unbearable. This is all because of climate change.
Karim: Exactly. The global temperature is rising day by day. But what are the main reasons behind this climate change?
Rahim: The main cause is global warming. Deforestation, rapid industrialization, and the massive use of fossil fuels are increasing greenhouse gases like Carbon Dioxide and CFCs in the atmosphere.
Karim: You are right. And its impacts are terrifying. Sea levels are rising, and the polar ice caps are melting. Lower countries like Bangladesh are at high risk of being submerged.
Rahim: True. It’s also causing natural disasters like frequent cyclones, droughts, and floods. We need to take immediate steps.
Karim: What can we do to prevent this?
Rahim: We must stop cutting down trees and plant more of them. Also, we should reduce the use of plastic and fossil fuels and shift towards renewable energy.
Karim: Yes, global awareness is highly needed. We have to save our Mother Earth for future generations.
Rahim: Definitely. Nice talking to you. Goodbye.
Karim: Goodbye.
Answer (Alternative – Dialogue with Physician):
Patient: Good morning, Doctor.
Doctor: Good morning. Please sit down. What’s your problem?
Patient: I have been suffering from a severe fever since yesterday evening.
Doctor: Let me check your temperature. (Checks with a thermometer) Yes, you have a high fever. It’s 102 degrees. Do you have any other symptoms?
Patient: Yes, I have a terrible headache, and my whole body aches. I also feel very weak and have no appetite.
Doctor: Do you have a cough or sore throat?
Patient: A little bit of a sore throat, but no cough.
Doctor: It looks like a viral fever, which is quite common nowadays due to the sudden weather change. Don’t worry. I am prescribing some medicines. Take this paracetamol three times a day after meals.
Patient: Do I need to take any antibiotics, Doctor?
Doctor: Not right now. Take complete rest, drink plenty of pure water and fresh fruit juices. If the fever doesn’t come down in three days, we will do a blood test.
Patient: Thank you very much, Doctor.
Doctor: You’re welcome. Get well soon!
