A Winter Morning
A winter morning is misty and cold. There is dense fog everywhere. Sometimes the fog is so dense that the sun rays cannot get through it. Everything looks hazy. Things at a distance can hardly be seen. The old and the poor suffer much from the biting cold. They make fires with dry leaves and straws to warm themselves. Dew drops fall on the blades of grass and leaves of trees. When the morning sun peeps through the mist, they look like glittering pearls. Children and old people bask in the sun to get rid of cold. Date juice sellers become busy selling sweet date juice. People love to eat various kinds of traditional cakes (Pithas) made of rice flour and date juice. Indeed, a winter morning has a special beauty and attraction of its own despite the sufferings of the poor.
11. Suppose, you are Tarek/Tamanna. You are the student of KHA Madrasah. You could not pay your tuition fees in time due to your father’s absence. Now, write an application to the Principal of your madrasah for remission of delay fine. 10

(a) Duties to Parents
Introduction: Parents are the most important and closest persons to us in this world. They have brought us into this beautiful world. We owe our existence to them. Therefore, we have some prime duties and responsibilities towards our parents.
Their sacrifices: Our parents suffer a lot to bring us up. A mother bears untold sufferings to give birth to a child. She sacrifices her own comforts for the happiness of her children. A father works hard day and night to provide food, clothes, education, and other necessities for his family. They are our real well-wishers.
Our duties: It is our supreme duty to love, respect, and obey our parents. We should always politely talk to them and never do anything that hurts their feelings. When they grow old, they become physically weak and helpless. At that time, we must take proper care of them, ensure their medical treatment, and spend quality time with them.
Religious view: All religions emphasize the duties towards parents. In Islam, it is said that “Paradise lies at the feet of the mother.” Disobeying parents is considered a great sin.
Conclusion: Our parents are the greatest blessing from Almighty Allah. We can never repay their debts. So, we should always pray for them, saying, “O my Lord! Have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.”
(b) Physical Exercise
Introduction: Physical exercise means the regular movement of the limbs of our body according to rules. It is essential to keep our body fit and our mind sound. Just as a machine rusts without use, our human body becomes weak and inactive without exercise.
Importance: There is a well-known proverb, “Health is wealth.” To maintain good health, physical exercise is a must. It builds our muscles, makes our body strong, and helps in the proper circulation of blood. It also improves our digestion power and prevents many diseases. A sound mind lives in a sound body. So, physical exercise keeps our mind cheerful and fresh.
Types of exercise: There are various types of physical exercise. Walking, swimming, running, and riding are good forms of exercise. Besides, playing outdoor games like football, cricket, tennis, and badminton are excellent physical exercises.
Best time for exercise: Morning and evening are the best times for taking physical exercise. Walking in the open air in the early morning is very beneficial for health. It refreshes both the body and the mind.
Conclusion: Physical exercise is the key to a healthy and happy life. Those who do not take regular exercise easily fall victim to various diseases. However, over-exercise is harmful to health. We should form the habit of taking regular physical exercise from our childhood.
(c) Science in Our Daily Life
Introduction: We live in an age of science. We can see the wonders of science around us. Science has made our life easy and comfortable. We cannot think of our modern life without science.
Science in daily life: When we wake up in the morning, we use toothpaste and toothbrush, which are gifts of science. The food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the things we use in our daily life are the inventions of science. We use electricity for lighting our houses, running fans, washing machines, and refrigerators.
Communication: Science has brought a great change in the field of communication. Trains, buses, cars, ships, and airplanes have made our travel faster and more comfortable. We can travel hundreds of miles within a short time. Telephones, mobile phones, and the internet have conquered time and distance. We can talk to our relatives and friends living in distant places in a few seconds.
Medical Science: Science has done wonders in the field of medicine. It has invented many medicines to cure fatal diseases. X-rays, ultrasonography, ECG, and MRI are great wonders of modern medical science.
Conclusion: Science is the greatest blessing for mankind. It is deeply connected with our everyday life. We must use science for the welfare of mankind, not for destruction.
